Autism, meaning the social world outside me doesn't make as much sense as the one inside my head. Socializing is foreign to me, and fitting into groups and making friends is not an easy or comfortable task. I am also an introvert, which only exacerbates my social skills.
This however does
not mean I do not value or need the company from others. Quite the opposite, in fact.
There is a
self-blown bubble surrounding me and other introverts. Because of my Autism, this bubble is stronger than usual.
That bubble acts
like a turtle shell, protecting myself from what I perceive as negative energy. You see, being an introvert doesn't necessarily mean you hate socializing, it just means that it takes a lot of energy to socialize. Say or do the wrong thing to me and that bubble just gets stronger, causing myself to shrink back and attempt to block you out of my mind so that extra energy is not spent.
Some of the things
that constitute as "wrong" would be criticizing me, judging me, insulting, telling me I'm wrong, talking to me too much, not listening to me, and not giving me credit. If you must tell me to stop doing something or contradict me, make it clear that you are listening to me and that it is not my fault. Negative criticism will only cause me to further block you out. The most important thing to remember is to be extremely patient and polite.
A few months ago, this preacher guy (Preacher Tom, for anyone who might have had a similar experience with the guy) came to my campus and started spewing hateful and judgmental things at passers-by. Knowing he would be back, I created Zealous Preacher Bingo cards, with a few friends’ suggestions for spaces. We gave out candy to anyone who won.
I love how “Yelling” is the free space
i tried not to reblog
i really did
I am 100% making this and keeping a stock of 20 in my bag. These guys are at our union ALL THE TIME.
That’s the thing though, this isn’t lightning. The photos were both taken in daytime, the right photo being the normal condition. What you’re seeing in the left photo is a darkning strike.
Darkning is 50,000 times more rare than lightning, in fact most storms will never have a single instance of it. But when static charges between clouds become so energized that the electricity begins to form its own gravity, a black hole like the one created at CERN is briefly formed, sucking up all the light in the area and resulting in a brief “unflash” of darkning.
Less dangerous than lightning, Darkning lasts for a shorter time and you’d have to be within the event horizon to be harmed by it. Despite thousands a year dying of lightning strikes, only one man has ever been recorded as killed in a darkning strike, and that man was Lewis Caroll, author of Alice in Wonderland, which many historians believe he wrote based on that strange and fatal experience.
thank u photography side of tumblr
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? DARKNING? THAT’S NOT EVEN SPELLED CORRECTLY, AND THE LINK TAKES YOU TO WING COMMANDER’S WIKIPEDIA PAGE. Also, Lewis Carroll died of influenza. Jesus H. Christ.
I assure you that the post on Darkning is extremely well researched and spelled correctly and absolutely real. Furthermore, Lewis Carroll (The Pseudonym for Charles Ludwig Dawson) is well known to have died of Darkning just prior to writing Alice in Wonderland.
Seriously, before you confront posters about their well informed lessons in science, do your research and just watch the Carl Sagan video.
that would make the funniest fucking story ever. Due to a mix up at the factory, the template for incantations that was supposed to a publishing company of dark art books is sent to a feminine products factory. Girl then accidentally summons Satan with period blood. Satan gets confused because its “dead blood” and when he shows up he realizes the sacrifice was done incorrectly so he cannot take the girl’s soul but now is bound to do her bidding because oops his bad, he showed up anyway.
Not only is Rose learning to read Alternian, she’s learning to speak it too. She’s gotten good enough that Karkat is not cringing every two words because of bad pronunciation. In fact he has kind of grown to like her human accent. He still corrects her when she gets a word too wrong though.
